Home and Statistics
Home dashboard
Home (⌘0) is the starting overview when you open Cardmaniacs or reset navigation. It synthesizes activity across feeds, Read Later, and bookmarks—not a separate content type.
Typical Home surfaces include:
- Reading momentum — recent activity and streak-style signals
- Recommendations — suggested items from your library with Why this? explanations where enabled
- Quick entry — jump into Unread, In Progress, or starred items
- Discoverability — surfacing neglected unread or in-progress cards
Home is editorial, not algorithmic social feed: recommendations draw from your library and reading patterns, not third-party trending topics.
Recommendations
When Apple Intelligence is available, Home may propose articles worth revisiting or finishing. Tap or select a recommendation to open the card in the reader. Why this? explains the ranking in plain language—recent stars, in-progress status, feed relevance, or similar signals.
Dismiss or ignore recommendations freely; they do not mutate read state until you act.
Statistics
Reading statistics track how you use Cardmaniacs over time—articles read, time in reader, queue throughput, and related metrics exposed in the analytics feature.
Access statistics via:
- Home widgets and links
- Go to Statistics in the command palette (Read Later context)
- In-app statistics views where shown on your platform
Export
The app can export reading stats (CSV or formats exposed in settings) for personal tracking—year-in-review spreadsheets, accountability logs, or migration to external tools. Export entry points live in statistics UI and Settings → Advanced data sections where enabled.
Relationship to other destinations
| Destination | Role |
|---|---|
Home (⌘0) | Overview + recommendations |
Feeds (⌘1) | Incoming published items |
Read Later (⌘2) | Your queue |
| Statistics collection | Deep metrics slice of queue activity |
Home is the wrong place to triage fifty unread feed items—use Triage layout on Feeds instead. Home answers what should I pick up next?
Habits that keep Home useful
- Mark read (
⌘E) when finished—stats and recommendations stay accurate - Archive palette-clear items you will not reopen
- Star (
⌘⇧S) genuinely important pieces recommendations can respect - Review In Progress weekly via palette Go To
Privacy
Statistics are computed from local and iCloud-synced library data. Exports are user-initiated files on your device—Cardmaniacs does not upload a separate analytics profile to a proprietary server for Home.
